Electrification of Air Cylinders
Oriental Motor offers a lineup of electric actuators that can be used to electrically power air cylinders. The αSTEP AZ Series with a battery-free built-in absolute encoder provides not only high-precision positioning and speed control, but also enables control that limits the torque generated by the motor to any chosen value (e.g. push-motion operation). An electric actuator using this as the drive source is available.

Achieves Various Movements with Unified Control
The αSTEP AZ Series includes standard type motors available from small sizes as well as geared motors and electric actuators that combine motors with mechanical components. Drivers are available with AC input (100 V-240 V) and DC input (24 VDC/48 VDC). There are also many products that are compatible with various FA networks in our lineup. Selecting products from the same series within the same device makes it possible to consolidate the components used for wiring, control, and maintenance as they use the same motors, drivers, and cables, thereby reducing the time and effort required for start-up.

Contributes to Increased Equipment Uptime and Multifunctionality
The use of monitoring and information functions in network-compatible products contributes to increased equipment uptime. This leads to a reduction in wasted electricity due to unexpected equipment stoppages as well as a reduction in total factory power consumption.
Example: Cumulative Load Monitor
In the AZ Series, the load rate of motors can be determined in terms of area and detected as a value using the "Cumulative Load Monitor.” This is useful when you want to know changes in long-term loads such as deterioration over time.

Example: Utilizing a Monitor to Carry Out Two Operations at the Same Time
Air cylinders require a sensor to determine the size of the load. The EH Series of electric grippers equipped with the AZ Series can simultaneously "grab" and "determine dimensions" using encoder information from the motor.

Downsizing and Weight Reduction of Equipment
Oriental Motor offers a wide range of products that can help reduce the size and weight of equipment and robots.
By making the entire device smaller and lighter, the motor output to needed drive it becomes smaller, resulting in lower power consumption.
Compact and Lightweight with the Latest Drivers
The AZ Series provides not only high-precision positioning and speed control, but also enables control that limits the torque generated by the motor to any chosen value (e.g. push-motion operation).
The mini Driver has a compact design that can fit into small clearance spaces, and it can be directly mounted on equipment with two screws.

This is a DC input brushless motor with speed control possible from 1 r/min. Both the motor and the driver are significantly smaller and lighter. This size enables it to fit into the limited spaces within the equipment. It is possible to monitor the current power consumption.

Modular Automation Compatible Products
“Modular automation compatible products" are a group of products that share common concepts of being battery-powered, compact, and lightweight.
They are ideal for installation in self-propelled and mobile equipment, contributing to the realization of unrestricted automation lines and mobile automation, which will be in higher demand in the future.

This is a compact electric cylinder with frame sizes of 20 mm and 28 mm that integrates αSTEP and ball screws to achieve linear motion. The motor is equipped with an ABZO Sensor to help space saving and wiring.

This is a compact electric cylinder with frame sizes of 42 mm and 60 mm that integrates αSTEP and ball screws to achieve linear motion. The motor is equipped with an ABZO Sensor to help space saving and wiring.

EAC Series
This is an electric cylinder equipped with the highly efficient and energy-saving αSTEP AZ series in the motor section. In addition to straight-type actuators, reversed motor types with shorter overall length that can contribute to space saving are also available.

Rack-and-Pinion System L Series

The rack-and-pinion system is an electric actuator (rack and pinion motor) that combines a rack and pinion mechanism with a motor. Equipped with the AZ Series of battery-free ABZO sensors, it is capable of high-precision positioning and high load handling of up to 100 kg. This contributes to the downsizing of equipment and labor reduction in production work.

Hollow Rotary Actuator
DGII Series
This is an integrated product of the hollow rotary table and αSTEP. High output power drive is possible due to the speed reduction mechanism inside the actuator.

Electric Gripper
EH Series
It achieves a delicate "grasp" similar to human fingertips. The drive motor uses the αSTEP AZ Series with built-in ABZO Sensor.
